This past Saturday, I had the privilege of giving a lecture and doing a book signing at the National Civil War Naval Museum, located at Port Columbus, Georgia. It is a fantastic museum, and I highly recommend it to all Civil War buffs., especially those interested in the conflict’s naval history. I spoke on the battle of Mobile Bay. Behind us is the USS Hartford, the flagship of Admiral David G. Farragut. You can walk inside it and see how the various compartments were arranged and how they were furnished.
If you’re ever in Columbus, Georgia, this museum is well worth a visit and very easy to find — just off Highway 280.
